Colour has been a big trend for Summer 2012, which is why I was so excited when I discovered this bright orange pleated skirt for $6. I found it at Value Village, sitting on a rack among black, blue, and grey skirts; thanks to the vibrant colour, it was one of my quickest Thrift Store Scores ever.

I wore it for the Huffington Post Summer Style feature, and even though it wasn’t sunny out when we took the photos, this orange skirt brightened my day. It features a clean cinched waist with chunky pleats, which gives it gentle movement and flow.
I love mixing and matching unconventional colours, so I paired it with a powder blue tank from Club Monaco, and accessorized it with a translucent Mark. necklace. Instead of coordinating my makeup with my skirt, I decided to emphasize it with an orange matte lip and a neon pink half-moon manicure. The term vintage certainly doesn’t have to mean dull.
