Some of my favorite and most successful thrift store scores have come from small towns. Their stores tend to be bigger, cleaner, have more stock, and are less picked over.
On a recent trip to Penticton, British Columbia, I was sure to set aside some time to visit their new thrift store. I came out with a pair of brand new leather Roots boots, a cashmere beret, a pair of plumb purple leather driving gloves, and an amazing silk scarf (all for less than $30).
My silk scarf is perfect for fall; it features an English hunting scene, complete with horses and hound dogs. Around the edge of the scarf is a saddlery print inspired border, complete with gold chains, horse bits, and leather reins.
A scarf is one of my favorite accesses because of its versatility and practicality. It can be worn in your hair, tied to a purse, hung around your neck, or used as a belt. My versatile thrift store score was only a dollar, and with all the ways I can wear it, it’s a dollar well spent.
