I’m a firm believer that style is often in the details: buttons, stitching, hardware, and texture have the ability to make an item extra special. It can be hard to find this attention to detail in affordable contemporary items, which is one of the many reason that I love shopping vintage.
The first thing I noticed when I found this vintage purse was the gorgeous hardware. The intricate toggle closure is both elegant and stylish, while the metal tips add an industrial feel. Made of a stiff thick leather, the bag is beautiful on its own, but the hardware accents are what gives this practical purse a pop of personality. I found it at a thrift store in Niagara Falls, Ontario for just 75 cents, and decided to pair it with a few fall wardrobe essentials to give my vintage bag a modern spin.
Coloured Pants
Any hue will do, but keep an eye out for Fall 2012′s hottest colours: eggplant, teal, burgundy, cobalt, pink, and green. To increase versatility, stick to solid colours, and mix and match with your favourite tops.
Jean Jackets and Vests
A jean jacket or vest is an affordable way to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall, and keep warm while you’re at it.
Patterned Close Toe Shoes
As the temperature drops, it’s time to cover up. Keep your toes warm and your style hot with a bold closed toe heel.
