I’ve always known that my grandmother and I were alike, but in the past few years, I’ve really started to learn how connected we really are. When she sent me some old pictures and slides that she has been transferring onto her computer (she is much more tech savvy than I am), my heart skipped a beat. Tulle and pillbox hats, high waisted skirts, gloves, and pleated dresses; my grandma the fashionista. The pictures highlight an inspiring time in fashion history, but most of all, they allowed me to learn a bit more about my family and my grandmother. People are always saying how important it is to look to the future, but sometimes it’s important to look to the past.
