Among a crowd that included Naomie Harris, Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung, and Olivia Palermo, the Burberry Spring/Summer 2014 collection was unveiled on September 16, 2013. For the fist time ever, the runway show was shot using the iPhone 5s to share photos and video during and after the show. Live shots from London’s Hyde Park were fed to eleven sequential digital screens along New York’s Times Square, Hong Kong’s Worldwide House, and London’s Cromwell Road.
Although the leaves may be falling for Fall 2013, spring sprung throughout the entire collection with botanical accents like petal-shaped sunglasses, rubber flower belts, and petal bags. A plethora of juicy pastels like sage green, grape, lavender, dusky mauve, mint, rose pink, crystal, and pale yellow were combined with textured fabrics like Scottish cashmere, rubber, macramé lace, raw silk, and soft suede to create a collection that is both classic and contemporary. Burberry’s SS14 silhouettes and separates featured new takes on old classics like knot dresses, pencil skirts, wrap coats, and cozy cardigans.
The show also unveiled Burberry’s six new nail colours, which officially launch January 2014. If you can’t wait until the new year, the polishes will be available from Burberry.com for two weeks after the show for a limited time.
