Although I’m good with numbers, I’ve never liked them much. Call me a walking cliché, but I’ve always cherished the power of words, which is part of the reason that I started writing about fashion. So when my two worlds collided into a trend, I knew it was something to write home about (or at the very least, write about it on Van City Pretty).
Message t-shirts and sweatshirts are simple, yet stylish, and can make a statement without causing a scene. Depending what brand you choose, they can cost you $150 or $15, but in the end, the message is the same. My cozy Heart and Soul shirt ($15!) is part of Old Navy’s “new crew,” which is half sweater, half sweatshirt. Starting at $15, they are currently on sale (until September 11, 2013) and feature sweet sayings like Ever Lasting Love, Heart and Soul, and Hello There.
I wore my sweater with a pair of dark denim skinny jeans, a cozy plaid flannel shirt, and the most comfortable wedges I own. I also took the opportunity to illustrate one of my new favourite fashion tricks: using a laptop sleeve as a clutch. When it comes to bags and clutches, I’ve always believed the bigger, the better, and this definitely qualifies as bigger and better for me. From interviews to events, this cognac leather sleeve is at my side and carries everything from my lipstick to my laptop.
